The annual Nairobi International Trade Fair (Nairobi Show): All you need to know

Back in the day, the Nairobi International Trade Fair (popularly called the Nairobi Show) was an anticipated event for millennials and everyone beneath. The ribbon-cutting by the late President Daniel Moi was epic. Fast-forward to 2024, and the Nairobi International Trade Fair is even more phenomenal, with big things in store from exhibitors. The 2024 theme, “Promoting Innovation and Technology in Agriculture and Trade,” is commensurate with the current modus operandi and the future of agriculture and trade. So, what does the biggest trade fair in Kenya represent, and why should you attend?

Fairs like these happen often, but this one is significant considering the anticipation and support it has from the government. However, there are so many questions surrounding the event. The Nairobi International Trade Fair background

Did you know the Nairobi International Trade Fair is over a century old? It was established as the East African Agricultural and Horticultural Society (EAA & HS) in 1901. The first show took place at the Jevanjee Gardens and Market in 1902.

The show’s current home is Jamuhuri Park, along Ngong Road in Nairobi. The pristine location is ten kilometres from the city centre and around 30km from the Jomo Kenyatta International Airport. It is also close to the Standard Gauge Railway terminus and Wilson Airport, 30km and 15km, respectively.

The Nairobi International Trade Fair became a trade fair in 2002, just eight years before the promulgation of the new Kenyan Constitution. Its promotion to a trade fair attracts regional and global exhibitors eager to display their products and services.
